1. General Conditions
1.1 Tuition is provided by Literacy for Life (ABN 89 183 282 488) of 2A Lawry Place Macquarie ACT 2614 / Unit 5, 10 Kett Street Kambah ACT 2902. These terms govern the agreement between the participant (‘’you’’) and the provider, Literacy for Life. Literacy for life may be referred to as ‘’we’’, ‘’our’’ and ‘’us’’ in these terms and conditions.
1.2 These terms may be varied from time to time and will be updated on our booking system. A copy of the terms can be provided to you via email upon request.
1.3 You will be bound by the terms you accept at the time of booking your tuition.
2. Tuition booking
2.1 Tuition must be booked via one of the following channels authorised by us:
a) Literacy for Life online booking system (for new participants this can be accessed following email enquiry);
b) Literacy for Life email (firstname.lastname@example.org, or email@example.com).
2.2 By booking a lesson, you confirm that you are able to make payment in the manner selected by you. You also confirm that all information given by you to us through any booking channel (including your name and contact information) is correct.
3. Payment conditions
3.1 Payment for tuition is to be made for the full term in advance or via the scheduled instalment option. Payments will be taken via our secure payment provider, Stripe. If you negotiate with us for instalments outside of the Stripe system a $22.00 administration will apply.
3.2 If paying by instalments, payment will be automatically debited from your nominated card each fortnight.
3.3 Literacy for Life is not obliged to provide you with a tuition session if payment has not been received. If a payment instalment is not received in its scheduled time, Literacy for Life is not obliged to provide you with a lesson. If Literacy for Life provides you with a lesson before the lesson fee has been paid, any part of the lesson fee outstanding is a debt due to us and payable immediately on demand.
3.4 Payment can be made by credit card (this option is only available via our online booking system), or by direct debit. Our preferred method is via our online booking system, with credit card, through Stripe. Payment acceptance varies through booking channel.
3.5 Overdue invoices may be charged an account keeping fee of $22.00 each month while such invoices remain outstanding.
4. Fees and cancellations/rescheduled bookings
4.1 Literacy for Life has a strict cancellation policy. Where the student is unable to attend a session, the session is forfeited.
4.2 Where the student is unable to attend, Literacy for Life does not offer credits or refunds for unused sessions.
4.3 Where a student is unable to make a session with 24 hours’ notice or more, the tutor may offer a makeup session at their discretion. The tutor is under no obligation to do this, and the session may be forfeited.
4.4 Where a student cancels a session with less than 24 hours’ notice, the session is automatically forfeited.
4.5 If you arrive late for a session, the tutor may only be able to offer you the remaining lesson time, and you will be charged the full cost.
4.6 If you are more than 20 minutes late without notifying us, we reserve the right to cancel the lesson and charge the full lesson fee.
4.7 If the student attends a session unwell/symptomatic/in any way unfit to participate in the session, the student will be sent home immediately, and the session will be charged.
4.8 If the tutor is unable to teach, the tutor will, where possible, make up the missed session at a negotiated time. If this is not possible, a replacement tutor will be used.
5.1 Where the participant attends more than one tuition program in a term, a multi program discount of 10% is offered on the second program.
5.2 Where payment is made by instalments, this 10% is taken off the amount of the first instalment only.
5.3 Where payment is made in full upfront, 10% is taken off the entire second program.
6. Session types
6.1 Literacy for Life uses the same dates as ACT school terms.
6.2 Tuition is based on 1 session each week of term (unless other arrangements have been made).
6.3 Session types and costs are outlined in packages below:

6.4 Where the participant wishes to attend a number of sessions not outlined, sessions will be billed at the package amount below their chosen amount of lessons, plus the extra sessions at a flat rate of $110.00 per session.
6.5 Sessions packages cannot be carried over terms.
7. Invisible Literacies Holiday Program
7.1 Invisible Literacies is offered during school holiday periods. It may not be held every holiday period.
7.2 Invisible Literacies is held in groups (max 6 students).
7.3 Full payment is required at the time of booking.
7.4 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellation. If 24 hours’ notice is given, your payment will be refunded, less 20%, to cover the cost of materials.
7.5 If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, no refund will be issued.
8. Privacy, confidentiality, and duty of care
8.1 Literacy for Life collects your personal information in order to provide lessons to you, to assess the student’s literacy skills, and to assist in internal administration and operations including accounting, risk management, record keeping, archiving, systems development and testing, and staff training. Literacy for Life treats this information as confidential.
8.2 All staff at Literacy for Life carry a valid Working with Vulnerable People card.
8.3 Where a student is less than eighteen years of age/considered vulnerable, a parent/guardian/carer must be contactable by mobile phone at all times for the duration of the session.
